I was noticing my furry friend was eating everything at once, and it got me worried as it soon started crying about what I believe were stomach aches. So the next day I called my vet and asked if there’s something I can do to prevent my pet from overeating. And this is when I was introduced to this innovative product – a slow feed bowl.

It is a clever tool that can be used with both dogs and cats, and which is utilized to correct their overeating tendencies. They usually have the shape of a traditional bowl, and the only difference is that they come with ridges, barriers and lumps that prevent the pet from taking a large chunk of food. It divides the food you put in it, making it hard for the tongue of the pet to reach it, thus slowing down the eating process.

This greed is not only bad because it can lead to obesity and heart problems, but it can also cause vomiting and gastrointestinal discomfort. And most importantly, it can be a choking hazard. Using a product like this can make a difference, as your pet will be healthier and will learn to be patient, and at the same time, it won’t be as hyperactive as it would be if it ate all the food at once.

Everyone should own one of these products, no matter if you own a cat or a dog because it is a good way to train your dog to behave. Just pay a bit of attention to what model you buy, as it can harm the oral cavity of your companion if it has a spiky design or if it’s created from materials that can’t resist your pet’s chewing habits.

To conclude this excited rant, these products have impressed me. Both cats and dogs are the victims of many intestinal parasites. Some are more frequent than others. For a new cat owner, it can be a challenge to keep up with all of the information that their vet might want them to keep tabs on. There are several ways of telling whether your cat has parasites or not, but unfortunately, many of these diseases go unnoticed.

Roundworms are particularly common in young cats. Many times, the infestation occurs while they are still growing in their mom’s uterus. Very severe cases can lead to the larvae being spread to organs other than the intestines, in which case the health and life of the pet is in serious danger. Typically, tapeworms can be found in older cats, which is to say you might find them in those who are older than six months. It is quite uncommon for a younger kitten to have tapeworms, but some cases might still exist. Many times, tapeworm larvae are transmitted by fleas, which are the common vector for the parasite.

Many cat owners will not be aware of the fact that their pet is suffering from a tapeworm infestation because there aren’t many symptoms that might be visible. Sometimes, diarrhea or constipation may be two, but they occur so rarely in some cats that they can easily go unnoticed. Besides, if your cat also spends most of his or her time outdoors, it might be even more challenging for you to tell whether the feces contain larvae or not.

Some tapeworms are resistant to dewormers, so the safest way of preventing the infestation is to keep your cat clean and make sure that he or she has zero fleas. Of course, this might be an impossible feat if you have two cats and both spend a lot of time in your yard. Keep in mind that typically, cats and dogs have different kinds of fleas.

A roundworm infestation is sometimes difficult to discover by a pet owner. By contrast, a tapeworm infestation will become visible with the cat releasing proglottid segments that look like tiny grains of rice. If you have an indoor cat, for instance, these segments might show up on any spot where your cat has spent some time sitting down.

The Internet is filled with enough memes to let you know that cats are indifferent to people and that they treat us like we’re their personal slaves. I think people who found these memes funny are those who have never had a cat, and just assume that cats are selfish creatures, incapable of loving back.

Nothing could be further than the truth. There are many things I noticed while interacting with my cat, and, after reading stuff online written by experts and pet behaviorists, I discovered that there is plenty of scientific support for them.

Cats can and will show their love. Despite their insouciant nature, and their notorious stubbornness to be trained, they love us, their owners, just the same, if not more, than other pets. Here are some ways your cat can show you that she loves you (as I know mine does).

Head-butting is a labor of love

When I hold my cat in my arms, she does something as I can only describe as head-butting. No, it’s not an aggressive head-butt, but she does strive to aim for my forehead preferably. By the way, she purrs when she does that, so I know that it must be because she loves me.

Only recently I read that there is quite a reasonable explanation behind this kind of behavior. Certain glands are located in the head area, so, when your cat does that, she marks you as her family. The scent is a source of comfort for her, and that is why she does that.

Cats are fond of communicating through sounds

While it is easy to believe that cats are silent by nature, you should know that they are quite skilled communicators. If you spend enough time with your cat, you will notice that not every mewling, purring, or any other sound she can make, is the same as the rest.

Cats can reach a point where they create distinctive sounds that are only reserved for their loving owners. They will often express their affection by purring when you take them into your arms, will place small kitty kisses on your face, and gently touch you with their paws.

Cats are great at gifting

Cats are not emotionally challenged in any way. But they are selective, and that is something that should make you feel proud, as the owner. One thing I noticed about my cat is that she loves to express her affection by bringing me small gifts, usually in the form of toys.

Cats are great hunters and want to be appreciated for their efforts. That is why, when they catch mice or other small creatures, they want to present them. I know that this cannot be possible – or desirable – when living in an apartment, but, anyway, you should appreciate the gifts your cat brings you. They are, after all, nothing else but signs of love.
